Hi! Welcome to the brand new version of The Web Developer Bootcamp, Udemy's most popular web development course.  This course was just completely overhauled to prepare students for the 2023 job market, with over 60 hours of brand new content. This is the only course you need to learn web development. There are a lot of options for online developer training, but this course is without a doubt the most comprehensive and effective on the market.  Here's why:

  • This is the only Udemy course taught by a professional bootcamp instructor with a track record of success.

  • 92% of my in-person bootcamp students go on to get full-time developer jobs. Most of them are complete beginners when I start working with them.

  • The previous 2 bootcamp programs that I taught cost $14,000 and $21,000.  This course is just as comprehensive but with brand new content for a fraction of the price.

  • Everything I cover is up-to-date and relevant to 2022's developer job market. This course does not cut any corners. I just spent 8 months redoing this behemoth of a course!

  • We build 13+ projects, including a gigantic production application called YelpCamp. No other course walks you through the creation of such a substantial application.

  • The course is constantly updated with new content, projects, and modules.  Think of it as a subscription to a never-ending supply of developer training.

  • You get to meet my cats and chickens!

When you're learning to program you often have to sacrifice learning the exciting and current technologies in favor of the "beginner friendly" classes.  With this course, you get the best of both worlds.  This is a course designed for the complete beginner, yet it covers some of the most exciting and relevant topics in the industry.

Throughout the brand new version of the course we cover tons of tools and technologies including:

  • HTML5

  • CSS3

  • Flexbox

  • Responsive Design

  • JavaScript (all 2022 modern syntax, ES6, ES2018, etc.)

  • Asynchronous JavaScript - Promises, async/await, etc.

  • AJAX and single page apps

  • Bootstrap 4 and 5

  • ReactJS

  • SemanticUI

  • Bulma CSS Framework

  • DOM Manipulation

  • Unix(Command Line) Commands

  • NodeJS

  • NPM

  • ExpressJS

  • Templating

  • REST

  • SQL vs. NoSQL databases

  • MongoDB

  • Database Associations

  • Schema Design

  • Mongoose

  • Authentication From Scratch

  • Cookies & Sessions

  • Authorization

  • Common Security Issues - SQL Injection, XSS, etc.

  • Developer Best Practices

  • Deploying Apps

  • Cloud Databases

  • Image Upload and Storage

  • Maps and Geocoding

This course is also unique in the way that it is structured and presented. Many online courses are just a long series of "watch as I code" videos.  This course is different. I've incorporated everything I learned in my years of teaching to make this course not only more effective but more engaging. The course includes:

  • Lectures

  • Code-Alongs

  • Projects

  • Exercises

  • Research Assignments

  • Slides

  • Downloads

  • Readings

  • Too many pictures of my dog Rusty

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I got into this industry because I love working with people and helping students learn.  Sign up today and see how fun, exciting, and rewarding web development can be!

  • The ins and outs of HTML5, CSS3, and Modern JavaScript for 2021

  • Make REAL web applications using cutting-edge technologies

  • Create responsive, accessible, and beautiful layouts

Hi! I'm Colt. I'm a developer with a serious love for teaching. I've spent the last few years teaching people to program at 2 different immersive bootcamps where I've helped hundreds of people become web developers and change their lives. My graduates work at companies like Google, Salesforce, and Square. Most recently, I led Galvanize's SF's 6 month immersive program as...

I started this course as a complete beginner and, although I can't say for everyone, I found this course to be such a beneficial method of learning about lots of different web development languages, frameworks, libraries and other utilities. I enjoy watching videos and coding along, trying to troubleshoot myself but then always having the option to look at Colt's fully working code if I got really stuck. I also love the fact that I've come out of this course with some actual portfolio pieces and a list of things I want to pursue, such as react, typescript and tailwind CSS.
Thankyou Colt for such an in depth course and thankyou moderators for always being responsive and helpful in the comment section.

Colt if you are seeing this then I would request you to make a course about React, Redux with typescript and Next js with Prisma !!!

Colt is a really good teacher and he always finds a very good and logical way of showing and explaining the workings of everything. I would recommend this to anyone.

As much I would love the sheer amount of knowledge in this course, this is extremely poorly executed. The problem with colt is that he does not follow a script so he changes what he says in every minute. He stutters a lot. I asked people from his discord group about how they watch colts course, all of them said they watch at atleast 1.5 to 2x speed including me. Which makes it confusing sometimes. If colt followed a script the length of colts course would be about 30 hrs. So unless colt decreases follows a script this course would waste 20+hrs of your time. Other than that its okay. Colt if you watch this review please update your course. Thank you

Pretty good content, though I feel the videos themselves are fairly rushed. I am disappointed that past a certain point there are no practice problems, no summaries of each module, and the quality of the content goes down the farther you are in the course.

Very slow-paced and often times goes too far out of topic. Explanations are not clear at all. Too much talking, too little practice opportunities. Often forget about everything when I finish a section and don't know what I learned, constantly feel lost. Not engaging at all, couldn't count how many times I fell asleep.

Colt provides a wealth of information, breaking down complex topics in a way that's easy for beginners to understand. I'll definitely keep coming back to this course as I progress on my development journey.

I absolutely love the added value Colt brings with his personality. Always professional and thorough, but with enough funny remarks and irony to keep things fun and enjoyable.

He is very Millennial in his approach and mannerisms, which might not be for everyone, but I loved it.

Say hi to the chickens and cats for me! :)

I did NOT expect this. Awesome teacher as well!! I do plan on using a different stack after finishing this course but sofar, could barely be better!! I love how you (Colt), say how to study and not what to study, makes it easier to find stuff if it's a little out dated like Bootstrap already released the next major version of 5.3.3 and I can just go look at that website.
