What if I told you your child has special powers and latent abilities just waiting to be unleashed?? Sounds interesting?? Let’s go ahead and learn what this is all about

Let me ask you a few questions. Do children today use their imaginations as much as we did when we were kids? Do you see your children spinning incredible tales and stories in their fantasy play as we used to when we played “cops and robbers” or “house”? Or does your child’s fantasy play seem to consist only of repetitive movements that have no story to them? I am sure you are aware of such a situation
Nowadays children are no longer as creative as they once were.  We live in an era obsessed with numbers, data, and test scores, especially as they apply to our kids and their education.  Seeing the decline in creativity should make us concerned about our children’s capacities to innovate, problem-solve, and navigate new and unfamiliar situations.

In the world of child development, you may hear phrases like “critical thinking skills” and “creative problem-solving abilities” when referring to goals for your child’s cognitive development. What we are really talking about is
imagination. The way to create human beings with imagination is to provide them with opportunities to develop it for themselves when they are very young. These opportunities are found in one place and one place only
that is, play. Played with paints, playing with play dough, costumes, glue, and crayons. Making a mess. Exploring the woods. Splashing in a puddle. Wondering at a caterpillar you notice inching by you. Pretending to be a bird, gliding through the sky. All of these involve a great deal of imagination and development of their creative skills to many folds.

But, as parents, we must first learn the process of creative learning that we can offer to our kids. We, parents, should make ourselves aware of the different aspects of creative learning and critical thinking skills so that we can create an environment for our children to flourish in that environment.     In this course, we are going to discuss in detail the step-by-step process that you can walk your children through to make them creative learners and achievers. We have included many exercises and divided the course into 8 sections, each section focusing on the different aspects of creative learning for your child.

In this course, we will help you understand the child’s psychology and you can help them in their creative journey. Being a parent I know the toughest thing is to have your child express their feeling to you. We have covered this most important aspect of creative self-expression through different exercises and fun methods.

Creativity is essential to being successful people because you have to think outside the box early to become effective in life and challenge the status quo.

Thank you so much dear Facilitators for the course. I have found the approach and content to be very enlightening.

To my co-learners, you might find the emphasis on focusing on the process of creativity rather than the result, as well as the session on identifying and creating play spaces in our homes to be very helpful.
It is also good to learn of active involvement in screen time as against completely abolishing screen or online time.

Thank you very much.

So far I am disappointed with this course. Not so much with the content but with the presentation.
This is a course about ‘firing up CREATIVITY’ in your child’ and yet what do we see in the opening lecture? A talking head (slight variations in size on the screen) and a lot of white space. No colour. No bullet points. No homework. No further reading. No link to studies. No short film clips. No photograph to fire up our own creativity. Nothing about the Instructor – whose mantra is to ‘ reject mediocrity and pursue excellence. ‘ (explanation). This is a huge opportunity missed. I want to be inspired, entertained even. Enlightened. Activated. Not see someone with a white screen background, albeit quite an animated speaker. Yes, the course was outlined. But, competent and ordinary. For a course such as this I am looking for something special.
The next lecture, fair enough, no comment although again nothing that encourages me to consider much (except for looking for what some famous thinkers have in common). No research studies. Not even something ‘creative’ to think about at the end.
The third lecture we are back to the animated speaker and the white screen that’s just
empty.
The point is made that the most common question children ask is ‘why’. Try googling ‘parents’ responses to ‘why’ ‘ and you’ll see a host of sites looking at how to answer the question. Why not take some of those questions/answers and build them into the course? Or even ask the question and invite students to answer? Involve the students? Which brings me on to the next point
.
There are 46,384 students on this course. That’s a lot and yet in the Q/A there are FOUR posts only. And only ONE is about the actual content of the course. Can it really be true that 46,000 students have no observations, suggestions. Questions,. Comments about the course? Only about 0.5% of students are leaving reviews/ratings which is very low. Perhaps that really is the case – students are just not that interested. Which, as I think children and creativity IS an interesting topic, brings me back to the course itself.
I have only looked at three lectures so far so will update as I go along BUT I do not see any effort by the Instructors to involve students, ask for suggestions and comments, set work, set problems, offer scenarios, refer to published studies, look at creativity in different cultures etc etc. It all seems rather dry and uninspiring. Of course, given the professionalism of the Instructors I am sure the content is good BUT so far, not inspiring.
This is a course about firing up creativity – where is the evidence you are firing up your students?
I have posted a question in the Q/A asking WHY are students enrolled on this course. It will be interesting to see the responses. UPDATE: 21 days later, no response - not even from an Instructor. There is a post a year old and no response either. This is not a course where Instructors encourage creativity and participating. That's a pity.UPDATE: 8 months later. This has actually worsened. It took 4 months for the Instructor to respond and rven then it was simply a cut and paste job as a response showing she had not read the review. In the Q/A it is TWO YEARS since someone posted - and no response. In my own case 9 months went by and no response. A further 6000 students have enrolled and yet...nothing in the Q/A This is a course where the Instructors are not interested, the students are not interested...no-one cares.

I'm learning new ways to improve my children's creativity with the available spaces and different resources at home.

Joining the games and plays created by children helps them understand that it is okay to have fun , make mistakes, do corrections and try again.
