About This Course

Learn Both SQL Server & PostgreSQL By Doing. Enhance Your Data Analytics Career With Real World Data Science Exercises

Are you interested in a career in Data Science or Data Analytics?

In that case, inevitably you are going to encounter databases in your work.

But how do you interact with databases?

The answer is simple: SQL

SQL stands for Structured Query Language and this is one of the main tools used to organize databases, input data into them and extract it on request.

In this course you will learn how to create queries in a popular variation of SQL called PostgreSQL.

And even if at your workplace you are using a different variation (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL), you will find that the skills you learn in this course are easily transferable.

But there are many SQL courses out there, so the question is:

What makes this course stand out?

The unique advantage of this course is that in addition to learning SQL you will also master the concepts of Database Design.

We will cover off topics such as:

- OLAP vs OLTP databases (Online Analytics Processing & Online Transaction Processing): you will understand exactly how and why the designs of these two types of Databases differ

- Normalization of Databases: we will show you the theory behind normalization AND together we will practice how to normalize a Database step-by-step

Why is that important?

Knowing how databases are designed is not a compulsory skill to have for a Data Scientist / Analyst. However, it's a HUGE added benefit.

These skills will allow you to better interact with databases and derive results and extract insights from your data faster.

This course is designed with the Data Scientists and Analysts in mind, so if you want to propel your Data Science career, then this course is for you!

We look forward to seeing you inside,

Kirill & Ilya

  • Create basic SQL Queries

  • Create advanced SQL Queries

As a novice in database design and management i was very impressed with how the course is structured especially because of its comprehensive content covering both PostgreSQL and MS Server SQL and i admit that my knowledge has been deepened
Kirills' explanations were very clear, and the inclusion of real-world examples and hands-on exercises helped me in understanding how to apply the concepts in practical scenarios.
Kirill's clear explanations and structured approach made complex topics easier to grasp. I look forward to pursuing not only more advanced courses in Database management and design but also in other fields of data science and machine learning offered by SuperData science, Ligency team

This has been an amazing course getting to grips with SQL working in MS SQL Server - from the basics to Normalisation and database fundamentals. I highly recommend this course for anything starting out and getting a good grasp of what SQL is. Bonus for learning two SQL interfaces

The content was good, examples were good as well. But i feel like it was repetitive and somewhat basic (other than the last section). If some advanced sql topics can be added thatthat would be great.

Pros:
- basic PostgreSQL
- sections that cover 3 normalization forms with examples for each one on how to apply them

Cons:
- issue with volume – it was too low
- MS SQL syntax is almost identical so it could be dropped
- SQL syntax is too basic and doesn't cover things like grouping or mathematical functions. Subqueries are used only in the last sections about normalization and without deep explanation. If you’re looking for pure PostgreSQL, choose some other course
- I wish there were more other info about DB design except normalization. If you’re wondering how it's better to create DB for different cases (e-commerse, social network), choose some other course
