About This Course

Learn how to splice 3 strand and ski rope correctly to form a strong permanent splice

This rope splicing course is for you if you have an interest in rope work, are involved in a rope-related sport or hobby or belong to a scouts, rangers or similar group.

Splicing is the correct way to permanently connect two ropes that will make the joint stronger than it was before without weakening the rope as it will with a knot. Splicing is also used to create a permanent loop or eye at the end of a rope that can be used to loop over a bollard or similar object. Splicing is also used to end off a rope to prevent damage or fraying.

This course is aimed at the first-time rope splicer, but also a good reference as a refresher for the experienced knotter. The course is easy to follow and will direct you, using video and handouts, through three different splices: the back splice, short splice and eye splice for 3-strand rope as well as the splicing techniques for ski-rope.

This course contains just 6 videos and can be completed within an hour. I would encourage you to find various lengths of 3-strand rope beforehand and use it during and after the course to ensure that you have learnt and mastered the art of a solid, tight splice.

  • Understand the uses of the different splices

  • Be able to tie and finish off 3 strand rope splices

As explicações são até boas mas o pouco conteúdo me deixou um pouco desapontado. Gostaria de ver também outros tipos de cabos, como cabos de 8 e 12 pernas.

This was so much more easy to learn than I thought it would be, as Bruce pounds the basic rules that apply to splicing into your lexicon, and you leave the course, not only knowing how to do various splices, but also, how to do them well.
