I have learned one thing so far, that I didn't know, and that was aperture setting works as open as F5.6 do to distance and depth of filled. I new about defraction, but I thought the camera would need to be set about F11. Both Photographers/Teachers are very likable enjoying the course so far.

I really would like to give this course a higher rating because I think the instructors are knowledgable and are both good instructors. However, I found about half the course to be not at all useful to me. The parts that cover the planning and shooting for each of the locations were quite useful; the editing portions - not so much. This is an issue I have with lots of photography courses; the instructors want to tell me how they edited their photos on the computer. If this were a course in editing, that would be appropriate. However, I suspect that most people who take this course fall into two categories, and the editing parts are not particularly useful to either. Either they are mostly beginners to photography, who don't have (and may not want) access to sophisticated editing tools, or they are experienced photographers who are looking for some specific information, and are already adept at editing. I purchased the course because I was planning a trip to Moab, and wanted insider info on the best places to shoot. Fortunately, after I arrived, I was able to talk to some locals and get some info about several places that are not covered in this course, but are excellent venues for photography, and perhaps not so well known, or crowded as the three spots mentioned. Potash Road and the Needles Overlook, for example. Again, I really liked the info about the three locations. I suggest that the course be revised to look at more locations, and leave the editing portion for a course in editing!

Justin and Armando bring a new approach to travel destination landscape photography. I really like how they have documented the entire process from scouting to darkroom techniques then finishing it off with prints. Not only is this course educational, it is entertaining to watch them both on camera.

I couldn't have found this at a better time, given my upcoming trip to Utah: A three hour video course on the Moab area (Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point) by +Justin Balog and Armando Martinez.

The videos cover equipment, location scouting, on location shooting, and post-processing for some of the iconic views of a state that has so much to offer. Given their relative proximity and the reasonable distance from Salt Lake City, they are the perfect locations for a long weekend of shooting not far from the city and exactly what I had planned to do, so these videos perfectly fit the bill for me.

I am watching the videos right now and they are professionally produced, with lots of visually engaging content and practical information. I highly recommend the course, if you intend to take a photographical trip to Moab.

While occasionally, success in landscape photography is born of happy coincidence, more often it is the result of knowing what to look for, and being on location with the right tools at the right time. This photo workshop covers gear suggestions - right down to an Allen wrench for your tripod, and scouting plans that will help you work around other shooters and take full advantage of the sun in composing your photos. Instructors Armando Martinez and Justin Balog share their creative vision and concrete tips in a clear and engaging way. Shot on location at Dead Horse Point, Delicate Arch and Mesa Arch, it shows you how to get it right in-camera, and make some shots others may miss. Armando and Justin take you into their digital darkroom and give detailed post-processing tips using the powerful Lightroom 5. From planning to printing, this video course gives you the tools needed to create iconic images at Moab. Recommended for seasoned veterans or novice photographers.

If you are planning go to the Moab area, Justin and Armando provide invaluable tips to shooting Dead Horse Point, Delicate Arch and Mesa Arch. Even if you are not, their lessons on gear, framing and post processing can be applied to any landscape photography adventure. And those are the parts of the course that resonated with me.

I am always looking for ways to improve my workflow whether it is in the field or in the digital darkroom and the best way to do that is to look at things through the eyes of other photographers. Justin and Armando each bring their own styles to this course. I learned a lot.
