About This Course

Learn to draw well

Hi, welcome to the fundamentals of drawing anything, where you’ll learn how to draw anything you want from imagination or from reference. I’m Neil Fontaine, a professional comic artist, and traditional painter but also the easy-going instructor for this course.

I show you all the fundamentals of drawing that will give you the foundation to draw anything. By the end of this course, you will be able to draw in a new way that lets you break down any complex picture into simple forms. More importantly, you will be able to draw from your imagination.

In this course, we will learn light, shadow, shading, form, perspective, shapes, and we will learn how to properly hold our pencil and draw nice lines. Then we will put all this together and sketch a landscape and draw realism.

I also help you along the way by answering your questions and giving feedback on your progress drawings.

This course is for the beginning artist that wish to draw like a pro. Feel free to look through the course. I’ll see you inside.

  • You will learn how to draw anything by mastering the fundamentals of drawing, shading, form, light, shadow, etc.

Over the years, subjects in art finally clicked. I teach these subjects in ways that make it easy to grasp. It's hard to brag about myself, but students have written...

It was good but it was a bit hard for me when the instructor changed from pencil and paper to digital drawing.

I love this course - the proper techniques of how to draw and shade are easy to understand and fun to practice! Once you learn how to see what you want to draw as a series of lines and shades, it's easy and fun!

This course was as good, no better, than I expected. With this course, I was able to improve my basic fundamental skills a great deal. Mr. Fontaine is a great instructor and offers great explanations for everything. The instructor starts traditional but switches to digital at some point to offer clearer explanations. The principles are still the same though and the course can be completed digitally or traditionally.
Before I took this course, I struggled with lights and shadows. For awhile, I just could not grasp the concept of light and shadow. Thanks to this course, I finally begun to understand how it works and I feel much more confident when dealing with lights and shadows. As with anything, you have to put in the work to get better but it's worth it in the end. I still feel I can improve but because I put in the work and worked on the basic fundamentals, I'm better now than I was when I first started this course.
Overall, this is a solid course. It really does help with the basic fundamentals like basic shapes, light and shadows, and perspective. Understanding this will help you literally draw anything. I highly recommend this course!
