Captain Geo Ouell
Hey everyone,Here is a little overview of my experience on the water. I started sailing on the East coast generally within the Long Island Sound. Moving to Santa Barbara, California in 1980, I sailed the Santa Barbara Channel Islands with friends, mostly day sailing and weekends.I have worked as a deck hand, first mate or captain aboard various boats across the South Pacific and Southeast Asia. I have crewed on private yachts for pleasure and on deliveries. I’ve sailed from Santa Barbara to Mexico on to the Marquesas, the Tuamotu Archipelago, Tahiti/Moorea, and on to Hawaii. I’ve sailed around Fiji to Vanuatu, New Caledonia to Australia. I’ve sailed from Australia to the Solomon Islands, through Indonesia to Singapore. From Singapore I captained a 54ft ketch through the Malacca Straits to Thailand, where I did casual charters out of Phuket.I hold a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Captain’s license. I have STCW training and am a certified diver. I have a keen interest in all things oceanographic, and a deep respect for the ocean. I am dead serious when it comes to boat safety and navigation, fun loving and adventurous about life.
