Good for beginning writers who want general information about the process of writing for children. I would have liked to have seen some writing exercises or practice, especially in the second section.

There was a lot of good information in this presentation, however the delivery was a touch bland and did not keep me as engaged as I would like. There was also an entire point missing that was mentioned on the intro slide to the segment and then never brought up (another student mentioned this in the comments and the explanation of the point has been added as a response). What I learned in this course will certainly help me on my path and is valuable so I would recommend it to others.

Yes, it was a good match. In Section 2, lesson 9 under Story Patterns, Mr. Alcorn did not explain #4 "Misunderstanding Story". He did not explain that plot element as he mentioned he would. I would like to have that element explained. I have learned a lot from this course.

This is one of the best classes I have taken on writing, especially children's writing. I had 6 published nonfiction books for children early in my writing career and then was seduced by corporate writing and consulting. I am now circling back to my first love and needed a refresher and a way of catching up on the new world of children's book publishing. This workshop was exactly what I needed. I recommend it without qualification.
