About This Course

Learn how to create a tech stack for a million+ user web application, with no programming involved!

This course will teach you the fundamentals of web technology. You will learn the major components and technologies that go into the design and development of large scale, high traffic web applications. At the end of the course, you will be very familiar with the tech vocabulary as well as all the different frameworks, libraries, and services used in building a modern web application.

This course differs from many online courses since it does not spend any time on implementation. Other online courses are focused on coding tutorials, and although that can be great for users who want to be able to make something from scratch, it is impractical for others, especially entrepreneurs.

If you're still a little unsure about what exactly this course is, perhaps a little car analogy will help. We teach you how all the components of a car make it run, but we won't teach you what type of wrench you'll have to use to loosen a bolt. We teach the big idea, not the bits and pieces.

Again, this class is primarily geared towards those without technical backgrounds. Programming and the knowledge of how to program will not be necessary.

  • Understand core components of a web application

  • Recognize commonly used web technologies and the firms that provide them

  • Be familiar with concepts, vocabulary, and trends in the technology sector

Succinct summary to provide enough info to understand the key components of web technology.
Would have appreciated if they had also covered off Web Content Management Systems and how these interplay with the architecture described.

The course is easy to understand and for my purposes pitched at the right level. I'm an operational auditor without a technology background and minimal understanding of web technology and need to have a high level grasp at these topics to aid my work. The explanations are clear and well structured. There is a lot of content and explanation that is squeezed into the 1.5 hours and is brought all together at the end. The one thing to point out is that after this training, whilst it has significantly increased my knowledge on this topic, I still won't be able to build my own tech stack as obviously you need experience in the numerous underlying programmes/technologies that supports a basic webpage. Notwithstanding this, it is great at giving you a high level overview of the various components that makes a modern website.

As a start-up entrepreneur launching a web app, I was pretty much at the mercy of my developer. This course helped take complicated concepts boiled down so I can understand what is happening "behind the curtain" a bit more. My app is built in MEAN stack, but I know way more than before because the info was presented in a very clear, organized manner.
