React & Flux Course Description

Welcome to React and Flux Web Development for Beginners.

This course is designed for developers who know basic HTML and CSS but who want to take their skills to the next level by building data-driven web apps - the kind of apps that can be used for products or startups and the type of apps that can interact with servers.

The course is also for developers of any level who want to know and master React and Flux.

Why React?

Why should you learn React js instead of Angular or Backbone or Ember or Meteor? One reason is because React is incredibly minimalistic. It focuses on reusable view components. Never have to copy and paste code again with React. Then take the Reflux design architecture and mix it with React js and you have a full-stack front-end solution that is very lightweight. Frameworks like Angular do a LOT of things, are very heavyweight, and have steep learning curves. Why use a framework that gives you stuff you don't need in every project?

React was created by Facebook, designed incredibly well, and makes fantastic data-driven websites. React Flux is a powerful combination.

I am trying to get some of his outdated guidance to work and I am stuck in the setup. I am trying to find help online but his examples are way outdated and should either be completely updated or removed from your site.

Mark always does a great job explaining concepts to students without requiring that they have a huge background in programming. His longer courses are more in-depth and help you feel a little more confident that you have a wider knowledge of the subject, but this one will definitely get you up and running in react whether you're new to it or just need a refresher. Big fan of any course Mark teaches. (Devslopes in general is decent, but I find the Devslopes courses taught by Mark are particularly good and worth the money)

Pretty good as a starter course, following along with most of the examples proved to be painful, as the course hasn't been updated in years. Be prepared to spend extra time to get things to work as you follow along.

I didn't realize the age of the course and some syntax seems to have changed but the overall working of react and everything else is still very useful.

This course started off great as Mark explained in depth about React. The course started to do downhill when it started into the react-router section. The version of react-router used in this course is version 3 while the latest version is version 4. React-router dramatically changed its API from v3 to v4 so all of this section is completely outdated.
The course is outdated and doesn't seem like it will be updated anytime soon. There's also no instructor feedback. Every video we are told to join a chat group for any questions or discussions. When I tried this, I messaged Mark directly and he completely ignored my question.

All in all I wouldn't recommend this course and it is definitely not worth the money. There are far better and more up to date React courses on here

Mark is a engaging and clear instructor and I found the course very helpful. My only criticism is that the course is outdated and caused a lot of headaches due to depreciated packages that are used throughout the lessons. If the course was updated I would definitely rate it the full 5 stars.

Great course with a great way to present using video.
Only thing I feel not consistent with real experience is that the code is written all at once, I would like it more if the instructor can write the overall code first, and then show progress on browser gradually.
