About This Course

Become a master of email by using this system to optimize your process of reading, organizing and responding to emails.

This has been one of my most requested courses, and it's finally here.

This is the system that I personally use for handling email.

It takes full advantage of the tagging feature of Gmail to help you sort all emails along three key dimensions.

1. When do you want to deal with this email? Tomorrow, Next Week? Next Month?

2. What area of your life does this email belong to? (For understanding this, you will need to have first taken my Mastering Organization course, where I give you a complete taxonomy/folder structure for organizing your personal and professional lives)

3. What stage in a process is this email? Is this initial outreach? Are you waiting for a response? Are you onboarding after hiring a new person? This is a powerful way to organize where a person is in a sales, onboarding or other type of funnel or email sequence.

This system also solves the hard problem of when should you check your email, and when should you deal with emails that are on a weekly, monthly or other time table?

You'll get a fully designed Google Calendar that you can add to your current calendar that tells you when to check each set of emails. And I show you how to customize it to fit your schedule and your way of doing things.

Finally, I designed this system from a minimalist perspective.

Nobody wants to use extra plugins, extra apps, special hacks to be able to do their email.

Why?

Because that kind of system will eventually cost you a lot of money and will probably break at some point on one of the many devices you use to process your email.

I designed this system so that you can do everything with a simple browser like Chrome and the Gmail app on your phone or tablet.

This system aims to find that perfect balance between complex enough to handle 99% of situations, but simple enough so that you can quickly start using it and keep using it in the future.

See you inside,

Timothy

Instructor is hard to listen to. Monotone, dry as toast.
He just explained his labeling system but didn't show how to set up the labels.
I am determined to get better at using Gmail so will plod along and see if it gets better.

The basic info was good. The shortcuts he covered were very helpful. In some cases it wasn't obvious why you would want to take the time to set labels for email to check them on specific days but I believe he states he covers that in another course. He gets a little lost sometimes but overall not a bad course.

My Gmail is no longer an eyesore, and I know where everything is. As I maneuvered through this course, I also learned much about the power of filtering and how search operators make easy work of specific demands. I appreciate how well it integrates with any calendar, if that is your preference.
The only problem I am facing now is my calendar feels cluttered. If there is an app of some kind I can use for daily tasks/habits, I feel this could easily fit into it something more routine based and separate from a tool that I use to schedule everything else.

Another great system. A little more clarity on to the deep inbox ontological structure would make all the difference.

This course is not what I thought it would be. I was looking for basic, basics.

I'm pretty excited about my new email system thanks to this course. I have always had trouble with getting distracted by emails, checking it at random times and losing the emails in a mess of newsletters. I was hesitant I love the bookmark system with folders for when you should check things. This is a great solution for other distractions I face with reading newsletters or checking sites once a month for networking events. I didn't think about using today to pull things for me automatically, thus reducing any decision making or process document creation. I have tried using Start.me to keep some of my tab organization but will get tempted into the wrong projects when I see the icons. I'm just starting the system but I already feel so much peace. I was hesitant to create the KMS system in email but it organized my brain so quickly. I am no longer allowing financial items to get lost and I am not missing important emails! This is way better than any CRM system I have tried to use. I am hoping that it will coordinate well the CRM module I purchased. This course was nice because it allowed me to finish my whole system quickly and sparked ideas about other funnel processes. (I'm a recruiter, I am job searching and these can be created as processes! Great Lesson. My next step is to start creating templates for all my various communications needs.

I was quite underwhelmed by this course.

The course is top rated so I was expecting a well thought out and structured approach.

An introduction slide with the overview and goal for the class would help to better understand the scope and elements in the course. Instead, we get a walk-through - that's not good enough for an expensive course like this (although I got a great discount, so that helped).

Also, as I haven't taken the course about the categorization system, it would be helpful with a brief explanation of the system - I don't think it's mentioned as a requirement to take this class so please don't just skip ahead.

The instructor is very knowledgable and I appreciate the cut and dry approach - with just a few slides providing overview and structure, I would give this class a better rating.
