Flatters are the unsung heroes of comic book coloring!
Flatting is the first step when coloring as a comic book colorist. Most professional colorists hire someone called a flatter to separate the elements on the pages into colors. The colorist can then select those colors with the Magic Wand Tool in Photoshop to quickly change and edit those colors!
Flatting is more of technical process than a creative one. The colors a flatter chooses aren't really important, but the work requires attention to detail in order to be successful. Good, reliable, and flat flatters are always in demand!

Great for beginners. Easy to understand. I would have liked to see maybe a list of the options in how to use the tool in a bullet point. That would make it easier to remember without having to come back to the video for each way to use the tool.
I already knew 90% of what was covered, but that last 10% will be real helpful.
As someone who is already familiar with digital coloring, and wanting to make my work more efficient... I must say I've already learned better ways to utilize tools for the basic steps as early as the first video. Kurt has never disappointed!

I'm learning things about Photoshop I never knew and I've been using the app for at least 20 years.
This is a really good tutorial for beginners to Photoshop tools. But there are also some good bits of information specific to the flatting/coloring process, like why it needs to be done using the lasso select rather than simply a brush to get clean color boundaries.

This was a simple and quick to understand course about Flatting. I am attending one of his classes and he talked about this. I wanted to get a more in depth look and this was just right.
