I really enjoyed this course on DAX Time Intelligence with Excel PowerPivot. The problem with DAX is that it all happens invisibly in the background, and you have to have an understanding of that in order to be able to make sense of what to put in your formulae. Gilly does a great job of explaining not only the fairly simple standard Time Intelligence functions, but how to also implement the far subtler custom calendar route. I'd always dreaded this when seeing it in books, but actually it's pretty straightforward and involves a couple of patterns that you have to get your head around.
Highly recommended for Excel PowerPivot or Power BI, all this is still relevant.
