About This Course

Classroom Management that Fosters Responsibility, Nurtures Intrinsic Motivation, and Brings Out the Best in Students

Traditional classroom management approaches tend to focus on getting students to comply with rules through the use of extrinsic rewards and punishments. These coercive approaches produce, at best, short-term obedience and have the potential to thwart the development of many positive student behaviors and dispositions that we promote in our classrooms. This effective classroom management course presents an alternative classroom management approach rooted in intrinsic motivation and designed to create a learning environment in which children work hard, work together, and work with purpose.

This effective classroom management course is divided into four sections that contain a total of 20 video presentations. It will take approximately 5 hours to complete the effective classroom management course.

Take this ultimate effective classroom management course right now.

I feel like this course is going to be packed with extremely useful information already! It has proven itself, in the 20 minutes that I have spent so far, to be setting the bar for my new and improved classroom very high in terms of classroom management strategies and techniques. I'm excited to see where this course takes me.

Once you get to session 4, as a teacher, you will be really challenged on the methods you use to motivate your students. This lecture series has really gotten me thinking not just about classroom management, but how the whole school system and the curriculum as a whole is geared around a reward (and punishment) system and students' intrinsic motivation and joy for learning and growing is completely quashed by it. This will indeed be a positive challenge.

This course went well beyond my expectations! Fantastic insights into creative ways to motivate my students intrinsically. I never realized how simplistic and inadequate simply offering rewards was. There is really a lot of brilliant, insightful information in this course that I'm already using.

I found Steve's course very informative. It gave me some insight on how to prepare for and support my son's education and I now have better insight about what to look for in my son's teachers. I also found that many of the tools discussed can be replicated (with some tweaking) in my home in order to create a family environment that will encourage positive behavior...for all of us!
